Helicopter flight to the Everest region

At about 5:00 your guide collects you from your hotel and drives you to the domestic airport. The helicopter departs at about 6:30 and flies north-east over the Khumbu Valley, passing Lukla, Sherpa villages and the Khumbu Glacier, with a view of Everest Base Camp and the Khumbu Icefall. Where landing is permitted, you touch down at Kalapatthar (about 5,545 m) for ten to twenty minutes. The flight then descends to the Everest View Hotel at about 3,880 m for breakfast and returns to Kathmandu, usually before midday. The whole trip takes about four and a half to six hours. Passengers are weighed before the flight, and the flight is rescheduled if the weather is unsafe.
