Nagarkot Sunrise & Changu Narayan Day Hike
Watch the Himalayas turn gold at Nagarkot, then hike down to the ancient temple of Changu Narayan.
Overview
Nagarkot is a ridge-top village east of Kathmandu, known for sweeping views of the Himalayan range at sunrise. On a clear morning you can see Langtang, Ganesh Himal and other snow peaks, and sometimes a distant glimpse of Everest. After breakfast and sunrise we walk down through terraced farmland, pine forest and small villages to Changu Narayan, one of the oldest temple sites in the valley. A private vehicle then takes you back to Kathmandu. The walk is mostly downhill and takes around three to four hours.
