Bhaktapur & Panauti Day Trip
Explore medieval Bhaktapur and the quiet Newar town of Panauti on a relaxed day trip from Kathmandu.
Overview
Bhaktapur is the best-preserved medieval city in the Kathmandu Valley, with brick lanes, carved wooden windows and the five-storey Nyatapola temple. Panauti, further out, is a quiet Newar town where two rivers meet and the temples are much less visited. This day trip gives you both. You walk through Bhaktapur's squares and the potters' square, try the local king curd, then drive on to Panauti for a slow walk through old streets and the 13th-century Indreshwar Mahadev temple.
