Bagmati, Kathmandu Valley Rim
Nagarkot
About Nagarkot
Nagarkot is a hill village on the eastern rim of the Kathmandu Valley, about 32 kilometres from the capital and at roughly 2,175 metres. It is known for sunrise and sunset over a long line of Himalayan peaks, and on clear days you can see Langtang, Ganesh Himal and sometimes even a far-off Everest. Walking trails lead down through terraced farmland and villages to the temple of Changu Narayan, making Nagarkot a popular day trip or a quiet overnight stop. October to April has the clearest skies, and the drive from Kathmandu takes about an hour and a half.
